1998 GT Performer Rainbow Project
The finishing touches...
Well the wheels are cleaned and back on and the bmx loves amazing. The crank bearing have cleaned up like new and have been re-greased and put back together. The crank spins like new and so does the headset with the new cage bearings installed.

As with any build the final step before it's photo shoot is to apply the decals. I am pretty lucky as I can redraw and print them myself.

The 1998 GT Performer Rainbow is now complete and I am going to find it very hard when this one leaves me :(

The build continues...
The handle bars are back on and it is time for some NOS 90's stamped GT grips. I have re-installed the original brake levers which came with brake lock buttons.

The brakes are also now installed with the new gyro set and are all plumbed in and ready to go.

Bits have arrived...
The few bits this build needed have arrived. They include new front brake cable, Dia-Compe Bulldog front brake, Dia-Compe AD990 read 'U' brake, headset bearings and SST Oryg Detangler System.

I had previously stripped down the bmx so all that was left to do was remove the old brittle stickers (painful) and clean the hell out of it.

The paint on the frame was in amazing condition and so was the chrome on the other components. The bmx really started to look great as soon I got the headset and stem on.

Stripping down the Rainbow Paint 1998 GT Performer...
I have been putting the 1998 GT Performer with Rainbow paint off as long as I could. This is because I know once it is completed I will have to sell it.

Today I have finally got round to stripping it down and seeing what the BMX needs to return it to it's former glory.

The 1998 GT Performer has seen little use and is in amazing condition. The paint has very few scratches and the chrome will polish up like new.

The BMX has had V-Brakes fitted front a back so NOS Dia-Compe original brakes will be fitted along with a NOS SST Oryg Detangler System.

The headset bearings are shot so new ones of these have alot been ordered.

The BMX came apart easily as it has obviously been well maintained and serviced regularly.

The GT Stealth mags are like new and still have the original GT tyres on also in amazing condition.

What's the plan for the 1998 GT Performer Rainbow...
The colour is this bmx is amazing and finished of the 1998 GT Performer collection.

Again not much to do on this bmx other than take the brakes back to original, clean and re-decal.
