Well it is finally complete and I am really happy with how it has turned out.

Not sure which wheel set I prefer but it looks great with both.

The 1997 GT Performer Team USA decal set has been applied and the BMX is looking great.

Lots more parts on route to finish this project so keep checking back.

The 1997 GT Performer is really taking shape now and the parts are coming in thick and fast.

I have gone for red tyres with blue valve caps, NOS GT Freestyle seat and guts fitted, blue wheel nuts and I have also fitted the upper rear gyro cable.

Well the bmx is starting to resemble a bmx again and it is time to start adding the components.

The fan mags are attached and the stem has been given a good buff and been fitted.

There is some pitting to the handlebars and a bit of rash on the stem but not bad for a bmx nearly 20 years old.

After giving the seat post and stem a good polishing it is time to start putting the 1997 GT Performer back together.

I have fitted a brand new 1" SST Oryg detangler and also some new Tektro brake levers.

It's time to start ordering some bits to get this thing finished.

The 1997 GT Performer has been stripped down ready to be cleaned up.

With a can of WD40 and a roll of tin foil it has taken a day to clean up the bmx.

Although there is some pitting on the frame and handlebars the bmx looks a millions times better especially after a polish.

It's time to dust of the rusty 1997 GT Performer and start the rebuild.

I have an American theme idea for this one so I am looking forward to how it will turn out.

I'm thinking red, white and blue with USA decals and running the colour theme through the bmx.

Let the buffing begin.
