1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour Project
It is done and dusted...
Well the new pegs are on, the Built In The USA decals are on and the upper gyro cable is on.

This build has taken far too long but I am made up with how it has turned out.

Super shiny and super my style.

Finally the end is near...
Well it seems like this build has been dragging on like hell and I am now proud to say I have all the bits to complete the bmx this weekend.

I was having trouble getting the Odyssey Gyro 2 upper cable to fit without removing the lever adjuster barrel so I have stuck to what I know and swapped it out for a NOS SST Oryg detangler which I have never had a problem with before.

I have also installed the front brake cable.

I was waiting for an upper gyro cable which came today along with the other set of NOS GT TRII Maxi Axle Pegs.

Fingers crossed by this Sunday I will be adding the finished pictures of the bmx.

Decals applied...
As I am awaiting parts for the bmx to finish it I have decided to put on the decals.

They look amazing I am over the moon with the colours I picked.

It is crazy how different a bmx looks once the decals a put back on.

Time for a brake...
Many moons ago the previous owner of this bmx upgraded/swapped out the ACS Boa front brake and the Odyssey Pitbull rear brake for Dia-Compe parts.

The front brake was a Dia-Compe Bulldog and the rear was a Dia-Compe AD990 U Brake attached to a clever little U Brake mount.

I have installed a NOS front Dia-Compe Bulldog brake and cleaned up the rear as there aren't many shops selling the Pitbull brakes these days ha.

The Dia-Compe front brake cable I purchased has arrived and is far too short so I have had to order a new one. I have installed the gyro cables but I am having issues with the upper cable as the actual inner cable is too small and one put together the brake lever is solid and will not move. I have order a longer cable in the hope that this will fix the issue if not I will swap the gyro out for an SST Oryg.

I have installed a yellow chain which I am not 100% on so I have also ordered a black one too so once that arrived I will make my mind up.

The dimple stem came with a solid bolt and to install the slightly wider hollow bolt I have had to drill the bolt hole a tad bigger.

The bmx is coming together nicely now and should be finished soon.

Decals are ready...
The decals are ready to be put on the bmx but with all my builds I like to save that until the last job.

The next steps are to drill the stem to allow the wider hollow bolt for the front brake cable and also to fit the brakes.

The chain has now come but I am still waiting on a set of GT stunt pegs to arrive from the states.

The build is on...
This weekend has been lovely weather wise and I have had fun wasting it putting this 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour back together.

Today I have put the NOS Dia-Compe Tech-77 levers on with the NOS GT grips.

As the BMX's original wheels where swapped out for ACS Stellar mags years ago like a knob head I have put on some lovely GT Fan Mags with Duro gum wall tyres.

Next is the NOS GT Wing chain wheel and NOS GT Power Series 1-piece crank. The original crank was too far gone and I just love the look and decals on the power series crank so on it goes.

Next up is the GT Bear Trap pedals. I have taken them apart cleaned them up and cleaned the screw heads too. I may even respray the black on them but for now they have come up well.

After a BMX weekend the thing is looking well. Alot more bits on the way to complete but should be finished soon.

Let's build a bmx...
Now the cleaning and polishing is done is is time to start putting the BMX back together.

I start by putting the original double bolt GT seat clamp, post and seat back on.

Next is the new chrome headset and Osyssey Gyro 2 detangler.

I finally get to install the beautiful GT Dimple Stem which has been hiding in the cupboard for so long and it looks amazing. The bolt is solid so I will need to fit a hollow bolt later on.

Lastly is the handle bars and the BMX is starting to take shape.

Sticky situation...
Well the stickers are off and its time to spend 3 years removing all the goo that is left behind.

This is a job that makes we want to cry and the easiest way I can do it is with WD40 and a dry rag and alot of rubbing.

Once the goo had gone I then started to clean and polish up all the chrome parts including the frame, forks, seat post and handlebars.

Bits for the build...
I had already started gathering bits for this bmx including NOS Tech77 levers, chainring (a 44t instead of the 43t but I'm just glad I found one) GT Dimple Stem and Odyssey Gyro 2 detangler.

Other bits on the way include gum wall tyres, dia-compe front brake and cable, new freewheel and a new chain.

Strip it down...
Well the time has come to strip down and start the 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour.

I was in two minds whether to do this bmx or sell it on as it was but I am going for it.

The frame is in cracking condition and so it the chrome so a bit of elbow grease and it should be shiny in no time.

The big question is do I remove the original decals or not.

What's the plan for the 1994 GT Pro Freestyle Tour...
The only thing this BMX deserves is a full strip down and rebuild including; re-chrome, new decals, chain ring, gyro, basically the full works.

Finding parts is going to be a pain but will be worth it in the end.
